"Haus der kleinen Forscher" Foundation
Early childhood education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, as well as education for sustainable development
The Haus der kleinen Forscher Foundation is innovating STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education for sustainable development and committed to promoting these subjects nationwide. As a sponsor, the Dieter Schwarz Foundation has signed a cooperation agreement with the Haus der kleinen Forscher Foundation to promote STEM education through a joint effort.
A non-profit foundation, Haus der kleinen Forscher is committed to good early childhood education in the STEM subjects with the goal of preparing girls and boys for the future and empowering them for sustainable action. Together with its local network partners, the foundation offers an education program all over Germany for the educational staff and teachers to provide qualified assistance to children of preschool and primary school age in the process of discovery, research, and learning. The foundation’s vision is to enable daily contact with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, as well as sustainability in all preschools and primary schools in the country.
All of the Haus der kleinen Forscher foundation’s education programs are grounded in the inquiry-based learning approach: the children go through their own questions and interesting phenomena step-by-step without knowing what the outcome of their inquiry will be. The children shape the learning process together with the educational staff and teachers.
As a sponsor, the Dieter Schwarz Foundation will also be represented in the Haus der kleinen Forscher’s foundation council, working in this steering committee on all aspects of the foundation’s long-term focus. With their expertise and networks, the two partners will advance early STEM education around the country. The foundation’s other partners are the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres, the Siemens Foundation, the Dietmar Hopp Foundation, and the Deutsche Telekom Foundation. It is also supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
