Lernwelt Hochschule

Hochschule der Medien Stuttgart

Our society is subject to continuous development and constant changes, which can have a significant impact on the way of learning and study concepts at colleges and universities in the areas of qualification and continuing education.

To find suitable answers to these challenges and adequately shape future learning worlds at colleges and universities, the research project “Lernwelt Hochschule” (learning worlds for higher education institutions) has been brought into being. The initiative led by Prof. Dr. Richard Stang (Hochschule der Medien Stuttgart) demonstrates the current German academic landscape in terms of the design of study rooms and addresses questions such as how learning worlds at higher education institutions should be equipped in the future, especially regarding medial and digital but also physical equipment.

The research project launched in 2017 will find answers to these questions before the end of 2019 and create a recommendation allowing higher education institutions to draw up strategic plans for the learning world in question. In March 2019, the first results were discussed at the conference "Zukunft Lernwelt Hochschule" on the education campus in Heilbronn.

In addition to the Stuttgart Media University, the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, the Otto Friedrich University Bamberg, the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf and the German Initiative for Network Information (DINI) act as project partners. The research project is financially supported by the Dieter Schwarz Foundation.
