LIV Library

A LIBRARY WITH MORE THAN 640 WORKSPACES

Study. Inform. Connect. LIV is the joint library of DHBW Heilbronn and its Center for Advanced Studies as well as of Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences. The library is jointly run by both universities; the Technical University of Munich Campus Heilbronn as well as the German Graduate School of Management and Law are partner institutions. This means that LIV is a one-of-a-kind pilot project of collaboration across various types of higher education institutions.

In Heilbronn, LIV includes the libraries both at the Bildungscampus and at the Heilbronn-Sontheim campus. On top of that, the libraries of the other locations of Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences in Künzelsau and Schwäbisch Hall are also part of LIV. The locations are connected via virtual and logistics systems, allowing for the comprehensive supply of over 14,000 users with around 360,000 physical and electronic media items (books, e-books, e-journals, databases). Information and consulting counters are supposed to help search and find information. In the self-service area of the new central library at the Bildungscampus, media can be collected and returned 24/7.

LIV not only wants to be a library but understands itself as a service provider, supporter and partner. A service provider for its users, a supporter for study, education and research, and a partner for other libraries and institutions as well as for the development of needs-based solutions. For instance, the e-media lab provides a wide range of opportunities; with its high-quality equipment, it allows making audio-visual recordings and producing e-media and e-learning resources.
